Maria Mersynia was born in Athens in 1977. She completed her first degree in Ionian University - Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology in 2001. She is PHD candidate in the same University sector of Museology. She systematically delves her knowledge more deeply in the sector of Cultural management, conservation of works of art, and history. Her special interest is targeted in local history, especially the local history of Cephalonia, her place of origin. At the same time she is an MA student in Hellenic Open University in the Public History programme.
She works in the field of Cultural Management for the past 20 years especially with recording and studying books, newspapers, magazines and archives with emphasis in the scientific cataloguing and recording of information material for research purposes. She is part of the research team of Oral History group for the study of the trade of black raisin.
She speaks English, French and she has basic knowledge of Italian.
